Alice Beasley has been creating fabric portrait quilts and wire sculptures in the San Francisco Bay area since 1988. Ms. Beasley is a member of the African American Quilt Guild of Oakland & the Studio Art Quilters Association

Featuring the Sacramento’s premier screening of the film “Scenes of Siddis Life,” by Dr.  Henry John Drewal.   A 20-minute film documenting the history of patchwork quilts known as kawandi and introductions of quilters of African descent living in India.

The mission of the SQC is to bring awareness of the historical value of African-American quilts, as well as to celebrate and continue the tradition of quilting
