The Sacramento Area Black Caucus, Inc. will award Rosenwald “Robbie” Robertson Scholarships this spring. The $500.00 scholarships are awarded to students who best demonstrate the standards of academic achievement, leadership, and service to the African American community, all characteristics which the late city councilman and community leader, Rosenwald Robertson exemplified. The awards will be made on May 3, 2014.

 
Applicants must be graduates of a Sacramento area high school by the end of the spring term, 2014. Applicants must be a recent high school graduate or a continuing college/university student. Previous award recipients are eligible to apply.  Deadline for completed applications is April 5th, 2014.

The 2014 program will feature Karen Boutte, author and noted quilter as the keynote speaker. There will be opening and closing receptions, quilt demonstrations and lectures by local and regional quilters, quilting story circles, interactive children’s quilting activities, films, a book and resource display, presentations and fashion show by fabric and wearable artists, a presentation highlighting the historical significance of African American quilters and quilting; raffle drawings and a special raffle drawing for the 2014 SQC Opportunity Quilt.
