2013 Calendar of Events

BLACK HISTORY MONTH FILM SERIES

Historically, Blacks in the entertainment industry have struggled to make the films, tell the stories, get the jobs, and portray the people and things they want.  Despite those struggles, there is a wealth of Black images created for the pleasure of the African-American viewing audience.  During Black History Month, 2013, the Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) and The Black Group (tbg)will present old school afternoons at the movies, complete with popcorn and peanuts.  During this time, SABC & TBG will pay tribute to our culture with a line-up of movie entertainment created by black directors and featuring black casts.

• Saturday, Feb 16 from 2-6pm the Film Series will feature two outstanding films: “Paradise in Harlem” (1939, 70 min.)  “The Glove” (1938, 90 min.). • Sunday, February 17 from 2-6pm the Film Series will feature two family–friendly movies.
