During Black History
Month, 2013, the Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) and The Black Group
(tbg)will present old school afternoons at the movies, complete with popcorn
and peanuts. During this time, SABC & TBG will pay tribute to our culture
with a line-up of movie entertainment created by black directors and featuring
black casts. “Killer of Sheep” (1975),“Daughters of the Dust” (1991, 113
min.)and “To Sleep With Anger”

2/17 – Black History Month Film
Series: “Ruby Bridges” & “Polly” – During Black History Month 2013, the
Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) and The Black Group (tbg) will present old
school afternoons at the movies, complete with popcorn and peanuts. This event
in the film series will feature films two family-friendly movies for young
children and the young at heart entitled: Ruby Bridges (90 min.) and Polly.
Ruby Bridges (1998) protrays the
true story of an African-American girl who, in 1960 at age 6, helped to
integrate the all-white schools of New Orleans. Polly, directed and
choreographed by Debbie Allen, is a musical adaptation of the book Pollyanna
set in the 1950s in which an African-American orphan tries to use gladness to
unite the people in a small southern town. Visit:
