The Sacramento Area Black Caucus Inc. is accepting applications for its annual Rosenwald "Robbie" Robertson scholarships.

The organization generally awards at least two of the $500 scholarships to students annually, according to the SABC's Faye Kennedy.

Scholarship winners are those who best demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and service to the African American community, characteristics Robertson, the late city councilman and community leader, exemplified, according to a news release from SABC.

Applicants must have graduated from a Sacramento area high school by the end of the spring term of 2013. They can be a recent high school graduate or a continuing college student.

Applications are at http://tinyurl.com/bxo5wjx. They must be returned by April 20. For more information, call (916) 484-5025 or email sblackcaucus4@gmail.com.
