SABC honors the legacy of veterans of African descent and their contributions in the military during war and peacetime

 
Unsung Heroes Living History Project (UHLHP) and Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) hosted 1st Annual Veterans Outreach/Community Volunteer Recruitment Day Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the historic Women’s Civic Improvement Club/Center.

SABC will award Rosenwald “Robbie” Robertson Scholarships this spring

The Sacramento Area Black Caucus, Inc. will award Rosenwald “Robbie” Robertson Scholarships this spring. The $500.00 scholarships are awarded to students who best demonstrate the standards of academic achievement, leadership, and service to the African American community, all characteristics which the late city councilman and community leader, Rosenwald Robertson exemplified. The awards will be made on May 3, 2014.

 
Applicants must be graduates of a Sacramento area high school by the end of the spring term, 2014. Applicants must be a recent high school graduate or a continuing college/university student. Previous award recipients are eligible to apply.  Deadline for completed applications is April 5th, 2014.

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday and Legacy


 
Saturday, January 25, 2014 in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday and Legacy the Black Group (tbg) and the Sacramento Area Black Caucus hosted a community wide presentation Sustainable Living in the Black World featuring a presentation & demonstration entitled “Solar Suitcase Project” by Green Tech Students & Simeon Gant, Executive Director.
